when i report for duty yesterday,
i got to know tat the sick child tat i nursed previous night was sent to icu @12noon
was quite shock cos i tot her condition was much better when i pass over to my colleague in the morning..
but who knows, after a series of detailed scans and reviews,
her consultant-in charge decided to send her straight to icu instead of hi-dependency ward which was planned during my night if the condition get worsen
i am thinking,
dunno whether i am lucky to not send her to icu during my time cos i save lots of energy doing the transfering or unlucky cos if she happen to collapse,
i really do not know wat to do..
apparently, when she was in icu yesterday,
they intubated her and sedated her
condition still not very stable yet..
i do not know whether this is true or not but according to the nurse manager there,
the mother causes alot of problem and scolded the staff there because of certain reason
she added:
normally, when a child was sent down to icu,
the progress of the child getting well will depend on attitude of their parent
if their parent is good, the child will normally recover very fast
but if the other way round, the child might take some time to get well...
i do not know how true it is...
but i am going to transfer to icu in 13 days time...
i am wondering whether the patient will still be there...
anyway, it is not tat i am going to nurse the child anyway cos i need to be train in icu 1st..
at least, go thru the orientation programme 1st..
:)
just hope tat the child will get well soon cos i know how hard she tried to finish up her medication during my night eventhou when she is very sick..
i could see her hand shaking and trembling; the effect of high dose ventolin and how breathless she was...
i know, she is trying to get well...
